Shepshed opened their pre season friendly campaign in a positive way taking former Manager John Ramshaw and ex players Simon Hore, Sam Andrew, Markelle Bailey, Alton Rennalls, Jermaine Hollis and Joe Ward and more than acquitted them against Evo Stik Premier Division side Eastwood Town.

Dynamo started brightly and could have taken the early lead but the Badgers came into the game and hit the crossbar and forced Shepshed keeper Allan into a double save. On the half hour mark a mix up between Eastwood's keeper and defender led to Shepshed opening the scoring as Fitzpatrick picked up on the loose ball to round the keeper and open the scoring. Eastwood equalised with a quality move and finish which seemed to be the wrong time to concede a goal but with minutes to go before half time a right side corner led to Fitzpatrick to head into the left hand corner to put Shepshed 2-1 in front at the break.

The 2nd half saw as usual an influx of changes in a pre season friendly but an even contest continued and with 20 minutes remaining a well worked free kick saw former Shepshed midfielder Joe Ward curl the ball into the right hand corner.

From a supporters perspective alot can be taken from tonight the squad who played tonight gave 100% and worked together as a team looking forward to further preparatory work a more tougher test looks ahead Thursday night as we face Blue Square Premier side Mansfield at The Dovecote Stadium. But if a majority of the players in attendance start the UCL season then I feel we are capable of having a positive season.

Totally agree Kev, some promising individual performances combined with good teamwork and an attractive style of football. Considering that it was the first time they'd played together, it was very promising. Let's just hope that it isn't a false dawn!!!
