Everyone leaves the Butthole today with high Spirits

After putting 6 goals away in the 1st half Tuesday everyone involved at SDFC knew today taking on a side 2 levels above would be a tough ask but what happened at The Dovecote this afternoon has certainly increased the anticipation of the opening of the MFA on Saturday August 3rd. Changes made today saw Ryan Thacker return in goal, Ricky Aiten taking the left back position from Joe Hopewell and Alton Rennalls in centre midfield replacing Shaun Martin.

Shepshed looked comfortable for a majority of the first half and Thacker was reduced to comfortable saves as Chris Gray marshalled the defensive line Shepshed should have taken the lead with good work down the wing from Davies who linked up with Chaplin and the ball across the box was hit well into the ground only for the keeper to palm the ball and Olympics defender to clear off the line. The difference between the two levels the clubs play at was never evident in the first half as Mihael Paparozi and Craig Attwood battled for every ball in the central area of midfield and Chris Gray commanded the back four and to be fair Lee Attenborough seemed non existent.

Shepshed duly opened the score with time running out in the first half and if we are looking for a goal of the season Paparozi has 3 already with a shot just outside of the box he curled the ball into the left hand corned which hit the uoright and went straight across the goal and in off the right hand post.

Rushall made nine changes at half time whereas Shepshed in the ascendancy unlike Tuesday decided to retain the starting eleven and maybe under the sweltering heat Rushall came more into the game but until Dynamo decided to make their own changes they never really threatened Thackers goal. Shepshed were caught out and exposed in midfield with 20 minutes to go a neat interchange of passing saw the visitors slot home.

Rushall continued to press the game but the re-structured Shepshed side aquitted themselves with a header from Steve Chaplin saved well by Rushall's keeper and with 7 minutes to go a left sided cross from Pele Orton saw Craig Attwood volley passed the Olympic keepers left hand corner. Rushall pushed for an equaliser in a final 5 minutes which seemed never ending but Shepshed held on for an encouraging victory.

Next up Ashby Ivanhoe in the Coalvile Charity Cup at home Tuesday night and then a "friendly" against old friends Gresley F.C at the Moa ground next Saturday
