A worthwhile run out against a youthful and competitive Heather St Johns side who could be well worth a look out in the Midland Football Alliance Division 1 next season. The winning goal was headed home by Jack Ball from David Hind's cross all available squad members had a run out and those available on Saturday now face the sterner test against Evo Stik Division 1 South side Gresley on Saturday.

Other sides in the MFL have been also been preparing themselves for the pre season this week;

Our first opponents of the season AFC Wulfrunians beat last seasons MFA Champions Tividale 1-0 at The Castlecroft Stadium

Then the following Tuesday we host Basford Utd they cam from behind against UCL Prem side Thurrnby Nirvana to make a 4-4 draw with goals from former Evo Stik Players Ruben Wiggin - Thomas and Marc Goodfellow with former Villa player Lee Hendrie playing as part of their squad.

Boldmere St Michaels opened their pre season as usual against Aston Villa Under 21's going down 4-1

Coleshill Town continue to strengthen their squad with the addition of former Stourbridge and Highgate Utd Central Midfielder Daryl Jones they impressed again in pre season with an 8-0 win against Racing Club Warwick former Shepshed forward Shane Benjamin claiming a hat trick.

Dunkirk opened their pre season using 19 players on a 3-2 away win to Kimberley MW and played our Tuesday night opponents Holbrook Thursday evening and I hope to provide the result of this game along with Basford United in the preview of the Gresley game tomorrow evening/Saturday morning.
