Lye Town V Shepshed Dynamo Preview
Shepshed travel to Stourbridge Road hoe of Lye Town in the Midland Football League K-O 3pm for those travelling please note the coach departs The Dovecote Stadium 12pm prompt.
This is our first visit to Stourbridge Road although we have met once before Shepshed under the name of then Charterhouse beat Lye in the FA Cup Saturday 15/9/90 at the Dovecote 3-1 goals from one of Shepshed's all time top goalscorers Lee Mcglinchey and 2 from Willie Gamble in front of 362.
Lye were promoted from the West Midlands League last seaon and this game will be their first game in front of tjheir home fans on Non League day so apart from the travelling BWA lets hope for a good atmosphere and a healthy attendance.
Lye are currently 15th played 6 won 2 drew 1 lost 3 on 7 points scoring 7 conceding 10 their results all away so far:
League Kirby Muxloe won 3-1
League Westfields lost 4-0
FAC Stourport lost 2-0
League Coleshill won 2-0
Contonental Star lost 2-1
Alvechurch 0-0
Looking forward to seeing as many on the coach tomorrow as we celebrate the birthdays of two regular supporters who I know are travelling tomorrow Cavey and Costo and not sure if Dawn's travelling as well but it was her birthday as well this week. Also lnow a few are travelling in cars so it should be a great warm up prior to the FA Cup excursion to make the SDFC loud and proud.
A majority of the sides in our division are in FA Vase action there are a few league games here's who is playing who tomorrow;
In league action:
16th plave Dunkirk who were without a game last week take on 17th place Causeway United looking to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat.
The Team from Sutton Park look to make it two league victories on the trot currently 9th in the table Westfields are the visitors who also lost to Rubgy in the cup last week and are currently 10th
2oth placed Rocester have the tough task of taking on league leaders Basford. The Romans have already conceded 30 goals this season. United will be looking to bounce back from their midweek FA Cup defeat to Sheffield our competitiors next week after being reduced to 8 men and a man sent off the break looking at their match report the officials weren't popular and may also be missing their key mdifielder Lee Hendrie after being taken off at half time with hamstring problems.
Some of the teams will be without a game but here's alook at the FA Vase games and any news from MFL sides involved;
AFC Wulfrunians look to extend their National cup involvement after their FAC defeat to Boldmere they have a local derby against Black Country Rangers
Coventry Sphinx can take heart after a gutsy defeat in AET to Bedworth United in the week in front of 225 3-1 as they travel to Bewdley looking to emulate a run or better their previous exerts of the quarter final stage
Loughborough Uni embark in the FA vase hoping to go further than their FAC exploits after their defeat to Clipstone last weekend. This could be a tricky trip as Cleethorpes will be on a high after knocking Gresley out of the FAC in midweek 5-4 AET both sides in the game reduced to 9 men
Kirby Muxloe face Stafford Town in the Vase both sides looking to redress FA Cup defeats from last weekend Kirby losing to Ellistown and Ibstock and Stafford losing 4-1 to Norton Utd of the Evo Stik
Long Eaton Utd still unbeaten in the league after their 3-1 MFL win against Heath Hayes take on Arnold Town of the East Midland Counties League who have contrasting fortunes in their last two outings a 5-1 defeat aganst Ashby Ivanhoe and then a 1-1 with Ellistown and Ibstock who had knocked a MFL side out at the weekend.
An all MFL affair as Contiental Star currently 6th in the league take on Heath Hayes
Walsall Wood travel to Worcestershire to take on Malvern
Tipton Town after their FAC win against Sportng Khalsa take on newly formed Hinckley AFC. Tipton go into the game managerless after the shock departure of Nick Hawkins and his backroom staff after their progression on Saturday. Hinckley sfter their emphatic 13-0 win have found the going tough in the MFL Div 1 and have only picked up a single point to their ground owners Heather and seen the departure of a couple of their summer signings.
Finally Stourport after their 3-2 FAC win against Wellington take on Bromsgrove Sporting from the league below who were defeated narrowly by Coleshill with the same scoreline the cup in midweek.

One game missed 8th placed Boldmere afte their FAC win last Saturday take on 21st placed Brocton who were unlucky losing to Evo Stik side Sutton Coldfield in extra time in midweek 1-0
